As a writer for more than 30 years, I KNOW story and as a screenwriter specifically I have always had a solid handle on the interplay between story essentials and script mechanics from concept and structure to characters, conflict and everything in between however; when I stepped onto set for the first time to actually MAKE a movie from a script, it gave me a greater appreciation for all the talent and coordination it takes to transform words into something the world can see on screen. That revelation set me on a path of learning I didn’t anticipate, and, if I’m honest, didn’t feel I really needed but, I can admit I was shortsighted.
